Prof. Ferhan G. Sağın – Keynote speaker, participates in school activities
Ferhan G. Sağın (M.D., Ph.D.) is a professor of Medical Biochemistry at Ege University Medical Faculty, Izmir, Türkiye. She sas worked as a visitor research fellow in Aarhus Univesity, Denmark and Haifa Lipid Research Laboratory in Israel.
Her main interest areas include biosensors and biomarkers (in atherosclerosis, diabetes, cancer) as well as neuroscience and biological psychiatry. Dr. Sagin has more than 50 SCI or SCI-expanded papers. She has presented her studies at more than 200 national or international presentations. In the last 10 years, she has given talks & conducted workshops in many international conferences such as FEBS Congresses, Asian Pacific Medical Education Conference, International Association of Medical Science Educators Conference, European Proclusters’ Association, etc.
Medical and life sciences education, training and mentoring of postgraduate students are her focus areas since the last 15 years. In the same period, Dr. Sagin organized more than 35 scientific and educational meetings. One of these is the FEBS Education Workshop 2012: Trends in Undergraduate Biomolecular Science Education & Tips for Postgraduate Students and Beyond. Another one has been held at Tbilisi in 2019, with the title Towards Blended Integrated Learning: Ideas for Science Instruction.
For the last 2 terms, Dr. Sagin serves as the chair of FEBS Education Committee. She also serves as the Vice-president of the Turkish Biochemistry Society (TBS) since 2015. She is the chair of the TBS Academy which runs all educational acitvities within TBS. Dr. Sagin is also a member of the IUBMB Education Committee.
